MINTIT1 S <br />of <br />THE MEETING <br />of <br />THE CITY COUNCIL <br />Pleasanton, California <br />March 15, 1965 <br />THE CITY COUNCIL met in Adjourned Regular Session at 8 :00 P.M. on the above date with <br />Mayor Long presiding. <br />ROLL CALL by the City Clerk evidenced the following attendance: Councilmen Bubics, <br />Cairo, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long were present. Mr. Fales, City Manger, Mr. <br />Struthers, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, City Engineer and Mrs. Woodward, City Clerk <br />were present. <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG was led by Mayor Long. Councilman Cairo stated that <br />pledging of Allegiance to the flag was not a habit of the City Council but was serious- <br />ly recited. <br />MEETING OPEN FOR ANY MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL <br />Mr. Paul Loretz congratulated the City Council on the pledging of allegiance to the <br />flag which they have been doing for many years. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS were not scheduled for this meeting. <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS were not presented at this meeting. <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />Bernal Avenue Re- Alignment <br />Mr. Fales stated that this matter was continued from the City Council meeting of March <br />8th. <br />Mr. Campbell presented the revised map and explained the re- alignment. Access to <br />properties on present Bernal Avenue was discussed. <br />It was moved by Councilman Cairo and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that the <br />"plan Tine" for relocated Bernal Avenue be approved by the City Council as indicated <br />on the revised plan; that the staff be authorized to proceed to refine the "plan <br />line" with detailed street location design; and that the staff be authorized to <br />commence negotiations for right -of -way acquisition; and continue the extension of <br />Main Street to connect with Sunol Blvd. at some location near Bernal Avenue as <br />relocated. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: COUNCILMEN Bubics, Cairo, Harding, McWilliamd and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />Mr. Ted Fairfield, MacKay Somps, stated that as consulting engineer, he was opposed <br />to Main Street crossing Bernal Avenue. He stated that the possible traffic problem <br />and the increased costs justified his opposition to the City Council's desire in <br />this matter. <br />Mr. Fales stated that he would present a cost estimate regarding the Main Street <br />intersection with Bernal Avenue at a. later date. <br />Set Public Hearin: Annexation No. 36 Pleasanton -Sunol Annex "E" <br />Mr. Fales stated that this proposed annexation was approved by the LAFC on March 11th <br />and recommended that the Public Protest Hearing on this annexation be set for May 3rd <br />1965. <br />It was moved by Councilman Cairo and seconded by Councilman McWilliams that Resolution <br />No 65 -43, setting the public hearing date for Annexation No. 36, Pleasanton -Sunol <br />Annex "E" on May 3rd, 1965 at 8:00 P.M., be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Bubics, Cairo, Harding, McWilliams and Mayor Long <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />Set Public Hearing; Annexation No. 38, Stanley Blvd. Annex "B" <br />Mr. Fales stated that this proposed annexation was also approved by the LAFC on <br />March llth and recommended a public protest hearing date be set for May 3rd, 1965. <br />It was moved by Councilman Harding and seconded by Councilman Bubics that Resolution <br />No. 65 -44, setting the public hearing date for annexation No. 38, Stanley Blvd. <br />annex "B" for May 3rd, 1965 at 8:00 P.M., be adopted. <br />
