Secondhand smoke causes heart disease, lung disease, and cancer.
The CDC estimates that secondhand smoke kills
7,300 Americans every year from lung cancer, and kills 34,000 Americans every year from heart disease.
In children, secondhand smoke causes painful ear infections, asthma attacks, respiratory infections, and SIDS.
I urge the City Council to include ALL multi-unit housing:
rentals and condominiums. Secondhand smoke doesn't care whether you live in a rental or an owner-occupied condo.
It's a health and safety risk either way. Everyone deserves clean, safe, air where they live.
Thank you,
Jon Krueger
1
