probably support the half cent sales tax increase (41 were percent opposed or probably
opposed). Both of these funding options require two thirds or more support.
FM3 Conclusions
Our survey consultants reached the following conclusions as a result of the survey
responses.
- Voters are largely satisfied with life in Pleasanton; keeping services at a high
standard, especially related to public safety, is among their chief concerns.
- A majority say they visit Downtown weekly, and most see little need for new
restaurants or nightlife. Downtown housing provokes a strong negative reaction.
- The need for basic repairs and access for the disabled at City buildings, and the
need to provide facilities to accommodate for new police technology are especially
concerning.
- Voters are fairly split on the issue of relocation of the civic center and library to the
Bernal Property or rebuilding on the current site. Long term residents prefer
keeping the civic center in the downtown while younger voters would like to see
vibrant new development on the site.
- A majority favor amending Measure P to allow greater flexibility of public land uses
on the Bernal Property.
- Only the Transient Occupancy Tax reached the level of support required for
approval.
Submitted by: Approved by:
Alj(C
Brian Dolan Nelson Fialho
Assistant City Manager City Manager
Attachment: Power Point Presentation
