Along with the Valley Trails location that was originally
designated as an elementary school, the management and Board of the school district refused to
construct a school there after promising it for years. This was not Morrison Homes fault.
LAYOUT/AMENITIES: I think the Ponderosa development from a layout and amenity perspective is
one of the best I've seen for one of the abandoned school sites over the years. It has less houses
than some similarly sized abandoned school sites plus it offers a restroom, which is a great benefit to
the community and trail users that regularly use the linear park both within the neighborhood and
those that walk a loop from the Sports Park to Valley Trails. It offers a much needed clubhouse to
residents. The parking lot of the clubhouse has a gate, which means the parking lot will not attract
outsiders who are not supposed to be there.
TRANSITION FROM EXISTING PARK/RESIDENCES TO NEW SUBDIVISION: Also, I emailed Kathy
earlier, and the plans connect the new cul-de-sacs to the existing trail/linear park similar to the layout
of the abandoned school site development that George Oakes had to deal with in Pleasanton
Meadows (when the school district also refused to construct a school it had promised residents) with
1
