Downtown Parking Strategy and Implementation Plan—Public Comments ATTACHMENT 3
From: Squarespace
Sent: Wednesday, March 29, 2017 9:23 AM
To: Shweta Bonn
Subject Form Submission -
Name: Briana Scherer
Email Address: L _ @pacbell.net
Street or Neighborhood: Kottinger Drive
Your Comments: My husband and I attended the task force meeting last night and based on the
task force members discussions, its seems that the task force members are focusing on the idea
of adding larger buildings to the downtown area. One example, in particular, was the proposal
for a 3-story garage in the downtown area. A comment was made by one of the task force
members that to balance out the height of a 3-story garage, the buildings surrounding the garage
would have to be the same height. We strongly oppose of this idea! This would create a massive
wall of 3-story buildings and completely take away from the aesthetics and charm of our
downtown. Any proposed parking garage and 3-story building should be left out of the
Downtown area. It also seems, from most of the comments we've heard, that the majority of the
parking problems downtown are caused by the Ace train parking lot overflow. If there is a need
for a 3-story garage in the downtown vicinity, then it seems the best location for this garage
would be at the current Ace train parking lot location on Pleasanton Ave. which would help to
alleviate any parking overflow problems in the downtown area.
We are also strongly opposed of any 3-story buildings and any building height over 40', as well
as any type of housing being added to the downtown area. Thank you.
(Sent via Pleasanton Downtown Plan Update)
Provided to City Council for April 18, 2017 Meeting 29
