• Emplovee/Event Parking — The area abutting the Union Pacific Railway line
between Division Street and St. Mary Street (the lot used by the DeMolay
organization) has been resurfaced with an aggregate rock material to provide
temporary parking, resulting in 46 parking spaces. These spaces are intended for
use by employees or for patrons of special events.
• First Street Parking Spaces—52 parking spaces have been marked on First Street.
• Wayfindinq Signaqe — Staff has begun to fabricate and install new wayfinding
signage to direct visitors to under-utilized parking areas and implementation will
occur in Summer of 2016.
• Paving within Transportation Corridor between Neal Street and W. Angela Street—
The area of the transportation corridor between Neal Street and W. Angela Street
has been paved to improve parking efficiency and minimize dust.
Of the implementation measures in the Parking Plan, staff has identified the following to
achieve in the near-term. This list is expected to be discussed at the City Council
meeting, and will be discussed at future public meetings before being finalized and
implemented.
• 1.4.1 — Enhanced Time Restrictions: Reduce parking time limits to maximize
turnover along Main Street, where longer time limits can be provided on side
streets or off-street lots.
• 1.4.3 — Enforcement: Continue to enforce time limitations and issue citations for
vehicles parked in spaces longer than the allowed limit.
• 1.3.1 — Designated Employee Parking Lots or Permits: Establish parking lots
specifically for Downtown employees, and/or establish a permit program for
employees such that they can park in designated parking lots.
• 2.1.1 — Subsidized Transit Passes: Encourage businesses to provide employees
with subsidized transit passes and/or make this a condition for projects seeking
Planning Division entitlements.
• 1.5.10 — Formalize Parking on Transportation Corridor: Pave and stripe parking on
the unpaved portions of the Transportation Corridor to formalize these areas as
public parking, and make modifications to the Transportation Corridor between
Abbie Street and Bernal Avenue such that it allows for two-way travel and
perpendicular parking. Also, parking on the Transportation Corridor between Ray
Street and Spring Street would be paved in a similar fashion to the public parking
located at the Firehouse Arts Center.
