This email acknowledges receipt of your email to the City Council, the
City Manager and City staff.
Thank you again for your interest in the City of Pleasanton.
Sincerely yours,
Ellen Holmgren,Administrative Assistant City of Pleasanton
Original Message
From:Y S
Sent: Friday, March 17, 2017 4:24 PM
To: Mayor and City Council<citycouncil @cityofpleasantonca.gov>
Subject: Restore Owens Dr.
To Pleasanton City council
Attention:Mayor
Thank you for agreeing to start the preliminary design to restore the Owens drive.
Regarding your decision to collect more data points, they are 'actual people'suffering daily.
It's not just a simple quantitative measure of data points, as it can't measure the dangers we and pedestrians are facing.
I work on Owens drive just beside the narrowed lane and live in the nearby neighborhood. I can see the choked traffic all
the time and specially during peak hours . It's impossible to try to get into the street without waiting for 5 mts. With the
incoming pedestrians from the Bart on iron horse trail too. It's strange to note how the city approved this extreme
narrowing of the lane on such a high traffic zone from Bart and then people taking the freeway from Hacienda drive and
not to talk about the traffic from the big offices on Owens drive . It's a hazard for children trying to bike or pedestrians
alike. The continuous traffic jams create pollution too.
We have traffic issues at Bernal and First Street, which was voted unanimously for improvement/widening;we have
many pedestrians in downtown too.
Hence by the same logic, Owens Drive needs widening ASAP.We can't have 2 set of standards.
1
