Annette Brecheisen
From: Pleasanton City Clerk
Subject: Owens Drive Lane Reduction
SUPPLEMENTAL MAT EEi'AL
Provided to the City Council
From: Ken Smith After Distribution of Packet
Sent: Monday, March 13, 2017 4:55 PM 2
To: Mayor and City Council<citvcouncil @citvofpleasantonca.eov> Date 3]V
-/ 7
Subject: Owens Drive Lane Reduction
Dear Members of Pleasanton City Council:
It is my understanding that you will address the issue of the recent decision to reduce Owens lane to one lane for the
purpose of parking for a housing structure adjacent to the reduced lanes area. I am not familiar with the reasons this
decision to reduce Owens Drive to a single lane was done, but it seems so very much contradictory to the years of effort
that the employees and residents of the city to make traffic flow smoother and less impacted.
Please do consider issuing the order or the request that this error be corrected soon, and return that portion of Owens
Drive to its original three lanes of smooth traffic flow. I'm sure there is a far better method of handling the additional
parking needed at that housing structure than reducing a three-lane traffic flow to a single lane.
Constriction of the traffic flow not only is a troublesome hindrance and inconvenience to those driving in that area, but
it adds complications to the traffic flow and will surely lead to injuries or deaths due to agitation and aggression brought
on by the complications of negotiating that sudden, and seemingly needless altering of the traffic pattern in that area.
I do appreciate your consideration and attention to this matter.
Respectfully,
Mr. Ken L. Smith, Driver Education Instructor, FUSD Ret.
Former President,Vintage Hills Homeowners Association
Click here to report this email as spam.
t
