Annette Brecheisen
From: Pleasanton City Clerk
SUPPLEtAEA1TAL. Q9
From: George Bowen Ritvided lb the ay cogiggi
Sent:Tuesday, March 14, 2017 1:55 PM AgBf`d G9hlliliWfCAN df Para
To: Mayor and City Council <citvcouncil @citvofpleasantonca.gov> Q /,
Subject:900 more homes? ;Wu?
✓ _ 7
Mayor Thorne and Pleasanton City Council Members,
Most Pleasanton residents would agree that our city and local freeway traffic is a problem and should be one of the priority
issues to be addressed.
The push back on the EPSP proposal two years ago and the last Mayoral election should be seen as signals that there is
growing discontent among voters in Pleasanton with the position this Council. pressured by the Chamber of Commerce, have
taken on land use decisions.
Once again, those with financial interests in development and the Chamber are pushing you towards agreeing to a
major development project in East Pleasanton.
Before such a development would even be built we will see the completion of 2,000 additional housing units in Pleasanton,at
least 1,446 units in San Ramon, at least 500 units in Livermore, 7,307 units in Dublin, and over 10,000 units in
Tracy. That's over 21,000 new homes contributing to our traffic problem BEFORE adding the traffic from the proposed East
Pleasanton project.
Should you decide in favor of making this proposal a priority, how do you believe that you can persuade Pleasanton voters
that adding nearly 900 homes on top of this massive traffic-producing development-in-progress is in their best interest?
Forgetting Tracy for the moment, the majority of the 11,500 homes being built within a short bike ride of City Hall will feed
into the same city streets that the Stealwave project would feed into. When the people who drive these streets realize that you
are contemplating extending our City Limits to accommodate 900 more homes do you think that there is even a chance that
they would see this as in their best interest? Again, except for the Chamber and those with financial ties to the development, I
think not.
This decision is not about just 900 homes, but is about 900 more homes on top of massive existing development in and around
our city. This decision is about whether the Council supports 12,400 new homes being constructed, or whether you think that
the 11,400 we are already stuck with is enough. That is how Pleasanton residents will view your decision.
Respectfully,
George Bowen
1
