Eve Stewart, Housing Development Director, SAHA, spoke in support of the project and <br /> provided information regarding the organization. <br /> In response to Councilmember Brown's question regarding funding, Ms. Stewart addressed <br /> approval of recent ballot initiative approving a twenty-year parcel tax to create revenue that <br /> would fund different affordable housing programs. She reported $13 million will be set aside for <br /> Pleasanton as well as other funding that will be available through competition. <br /> Janet Brown reported her son is developmentally delayed and is concerned for his future when <br /> she is no longer here. She urged City Council to do the right thing and approve the project. She <br /> reported there are few sustainable housing options in the Tri-valley and urged approval of the <br /> project. <br /> Lynne Mielke reported her son was diagnosed with autism and needs a safe and stable <br /> community of individuals like him, where he can have social, recreational and occupational <br /> opportunities. She urged City Council to approve the project. <br /> Jessica Layman reported her son has special needs and spoke in support of the project. <br /> Brock Roby reported his son, Barrett has special needs and spoke in support of the project. He <br /> reported he is an engineer and said this is a wonderful project. <br /> Lauri Fehlberg, Dahlin Architects, commented on the importance to house residents, as a caring <br /> and compassionate community. She commended City staff and looked forward to the project <br /> moving forward. <br /> Richard Spicka spoke in support of the project. He reported his grandson has special needs and <br /> he is concerned about his future. This project will provide him with an opportunity to be part of <br /> the Pleasanton community. He urged City Council to approve the project. <br /> Jon Elfin reported his son has special needs and spoke in support of the project. He urged City <br /> Council to approve it. <br /> Lynn Monica reported her stepson has special needs and spoke in support of the project. She <br /> reported she works for Sunflower Hill Gardens and provided information regarding their services <br /> for special needs individuals. <br /> Debi Zentner noted the need for housing for special needs individuals, reported that her adult <br /> brother is special needs and spoke in support of the project. She thanked the City and the <br /> Planning Commission for its consideration and urged City Council to approve the project. <br /> Richard Irby, Jr. commented on his family's history in the City and hoped the City Council will <br /> approve the project. <br /> Michael Brown, Attorney, representing the Irby Family, addressed the Irby Family's history and <br /> contributions to the City, spoke in support of the project and noted members of the families <br /> would be pleased if their family names would be used to name some of the streets or parks. <br /> John Bauer thanked City Council for their years of public service to the community and spoke in <br /> opposition to application. He felt it is a great facility, but the proposed is in the wrong location, <br /> would cause a safety issue with traffic and was not disclosed in the CC&Rs. He said the <br /> homeowners would oppose the Sunflower Hill facility, in the future, and suggested City Council <br /> City Council Minutes Page 4 of 9 February 7, 2017 <br />
