Our town
is no longer losing its charm, it has been lost. No kidding ourselves into thinking we are something that we are not
anymore.
I am resigned to the fact that Pleasanton is ultimately going to develop every square inch of available land in our town.
What I object to, however, is the apparent disregard for the impact of this growth on current residents. In this particular
case, I am referring to increased traffic. Our roads are getting more and more crowded. And instead of doing something
progressive and proactive about this crowding, the council has a propensity to approve disasters like the narrowing
down of Owens Drive for the development across from the BART station.
The Stanley development will put pressure on all the roads radiating out from its location and beyond. In this case, the
"beyond" I am talking about is Santa Rita Road south to Valley,Valley east to Stanley, Stanley south to the development.
What once was a driver's nightmare became mitigated with improvements such as Isabella, Hgwy 84,Stoneridge. Some
day the East Side development plan will rear its head again and that will add new traffic impact. So I am curious what
kind of thought has been given to this area.
1
