I have lived in Pleasanton for 45 years and I am a parent of a special needs child. l do
not know if my child would ever be able to live in the development coming before you but regardless,
our community needs and deserves a home for people with special needs. Historically, almost all
focus is on the "special needs child" and our school district has done a wonderful job adapting to the
needs of these children. However, special needs people are only children for a short period of time
and the biggest question for caring families is "what happens next?". The development coming to you
has been carefully thought out and has had extensive planning. The homes that the developer will
build will provide a good revenue stream for the city for many years and the assisted living
professional needs will provide good, long-term employment opportunities for care workers and
professionals.
However, most importantly, the development will provide for the most vulnerable of our society a
place to call home(those adults who cannot care for themselves, adults who require technical care to
meet their needs for a lifetime). It will provide the beauty, safety and care that all of us enjoy by
calling Pleasanton our home. Regardless of the financial benefit of residential home development,
this opportunity for special needs adults is priceless. Special needs adults need a place to live, there
are few options and this development provides an opportunity of a lifetime for them and the
1
