I am the father of a special needs son, a 22 year old with a rare genetic condition called trisomy nine. He
is a great fun young man, but he has significant disabilities and will never live independently. I know this will come as a
great shock to you, but I will not live forever. While we all want happiness and success for children, what we, special-
needs parents, want for our kids is much more basic.A safe and supportive community, that gives our children the
opportunity to learn, grow, make some friends, and be happy. There are few alternatives.
Sunflower Hill, along with Mid-Pen housing, has the vision of building an inclusive community available to all income
ranges. If approved, this will be an important step to help a small fraction of those that need such a community. As we
all know families or people that have loved ones with special needs, I urge you to approve this incredibly important
project. Pleasanton will be a better place for it.
Thank you so much for your consideration,
Jon Elfin
Jon Elfin, Financial Planner, CRPC, NI BA
Lincoln Financial Advisors/Sagemark Consulting
1
