CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> REGULAR MEETING MINUTES <br /> December 6, 2016 <br /> Mayor Thorne called the regular meeting to order at the hour of 7 00 p m At Mayor Thorne's request a <br /> Boy Scout seated in the audience led the pledge of allegiance <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Present Councilmembers Brown, Narum, Pentin, Olson, Mayor Thorne <br /> Absent None <br /> AGENDA AMENDMENTS - None <br /> SPECIAL CONSENT ITEM <br /> 1 Adopt a resolution declaring the results of the November 8, 2016 General Municipal Election <br /> MOTION: It was m/s by Narum/Olson to waive full reading and adopt Resolution No. 16-897 reciting <br /> the fact of the Consolidated General Municipal Election held November 8, 2016 declaring the result and <br /> such other matters as provided by law Motion passed by the following vote <br /> Ayes Councilmembers Brown, Narum, Pentin, Olson, Mayor Thorne <br /> Noes None <br /> Absent None <br /> OATHS OF OFFICE <br /> Judge Steve Pulido administered the Oath of Office to Mayor-elect Jerry Thorne, City Clerk Karen Diaz <br /> administered the Oath of Office to Councilmember-elect Karla Brown, and retired Judge Ron Hyde <br /> administered the Oath of Office to Councilmember-elect Jerry Pentin <br /> REMARKS <br /> Mayor Thorne thanked Judge Steve Pulido for administering the oath and his contributions to the <br /> community Additionally he thanked his opponent, Julie Testa for her willingness to serve, the voters <br /> who voted for him, and noted he will strive to be deserving of the public's trust and be the best mayor <br /> he can be He commented on his background and his accomplishments and expressed his appreciation <br /> at living in one of the best cities in the world He acknowledged and thanked his wife Sandy for her <br /> support through the years and those who worked with him in his campaign <br /> Councilmember Brown thanked Pleasanton voters and campaign volunteers and addressed her <br /> platform of "slow and smart growth" She thanked Herb Ritter and Julie Testa for running for office and <br /> encouraged residents to learn how they can give back to the community and get involved Additionally, <br /> she thanked the many volunteers and her husband Tim Belcher She noted she is interested in <br /> residents' ideas for the City, encouraged them to contact her and expressed her appreciation for being <br /> allowed to serve the City <br /> Councilmember Pentin thanked those assembled now and those who supported him during his re- <br /> election efforts He specifically thanked his wife Josine and daughter Jot He encouraged members of <br /> the community to become engaged and involved and dedicated this opportunity to serve to his father <br /> and daughter and thanked voters for their support and trust He promised to represent the City fairly <br /> and equally <br />
