THE CITY OF <br /> • — ° CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> 'o � .. wnn�l i°°11 -�1 0oo-��I <br /> pLEASANTONo <br /> January 17, 2017 <br /> Engineering <br /> TITLE: ACCEPT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY GOODLAND <br /> LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION, INC., VALLEY PRECISION GRADING, <br /> AND PLAYCRAFT DIRECT, INC., FOR THE BERNAL COMMUNITY PARK, <br /> PHASE II LIGHTED MULTI-PURPOSE SPORTS SYNTHETIC FIELDS AND <br /> THE OAK WOODLANDS OPEN SPACE AREA ON THE CITY'S BERNAL <br /> PROPERTY, COP NO. 017045 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Construction of the Bernal Community Park, Phase II project is complete and ready for <br /> acceptance This phase of the park project includes three lighted multi-purpose sports <br /> synthetic fields, a concrete grandstand, a plaza area with palm trees and various <br /> shrubs, four electronic kiosks, two vehicle charging stations, two paved parking lots, a <br /> public restroom, a combination storage and maintenance building, a trash enclosure, a <br /> children's play area with playground equipment, two storm water overflow channels, a <br /> wooden boardwalk, asphalt and decomposed granite pathways, and planting of <br /> approximately 1,300 trees between the Park Plaza area and the Oak Woodland open <br /> space area <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1 Accept the improvements for the subject project <br /> 2 Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the work performed by <br /> Goodland Landscape Construction, Inc (GLCI) <br /> 3 Authorize payment of the retention in the amount of $652,283 43 to GLCI, thirty days <br /> after recordation of the Notice of Completion <br /> 4 Authorize payment of the retention in the amount of $91,939 90 to Valley Precision <br /> Grading (VPG) <br /> 5 Transfer the project balance of $247,313 to the Park Dedication Fee Reserve <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The total cost of the construction phase of the project was $16,309,756 The <br /> construction of the project was completed with a combination of funding sources totaling <br /> $14,557,069, including General Fund, Developer Impact Fees and a $2,000,000 loan <br /> from the City's Facilities Renovation Fund to be repaid by the sports groups <br /> There will be financial impact to the City for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the <br /> multi-purpose sports lighted fields and their appurtenances, paved parking lots, electric <br /> vehicle charging station, buildings, irrigation and landscaping, occasional mowing of the <br /> Oak Woodlands area, park lighting and various other features of the park These costs <br /> are included in the City's Operating Budget <br />
