RESOLUTION NO. 16-897 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, j CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE CONSOLIDATED GENERAL r' MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON HOVE!ABER 8, 2016 DECLARING THE RESULT AND SUCH OTHER \,TATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LA\",/ ' 'HEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Pleasanton, California, Tuesday, November 8, 2016, as required by law, and HEREAS, notice of the election was given in the time, form and manner as provided by law; that voting precincts were properly established, that election officers were appointed and that in all respects the election was held and conducted and the votes were cast, received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for the holding of elections in general law cities, and WHEREAS, the Alameda County Election Department canvassed the returns of the election and has certified the results, which are attached and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A" NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED TH,A.T THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERI/LINE AND ORDER AS FOLLO'' iS: SECTION 1 That the whole number of ballots cast in said election was 34,328 which represent 82.38% of Pleasanton's eligible voters SECTION 2 That the names of the persons voted for at the election are as follows for Mayor for Members of the City Council Julie Testa Karla Brown Jerry Thorne Jerry Pentin Herb Ritter That the measure voted upon at the election is as follows Measure MM "Shall the ordinance proposing to amend the City of Pleasanton's General Plan to prohibit retail uses of 50,000 square feet or greater, large scale retail and club retail, in the Johnson Drive Economic Development Zone be adopted"? SECTION 3. That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each of the persons above named for the respective offices for which the persons were candidates, and for and against the measure are as listed in "Exhibit "A" attached SECTION 4. The City Council does declare and determine that Jerry Thorne was elected Mayor for the full term of two years; Karla Brown was elected as Member of the City Council for the full term of four years, Jerry Pentin was elected as Member of the City Council for a full term of four years That as a result of the election, a majority of the voters voting on Measure MM did not vote in favor of it, and that the measure was not, and shall not be deemed adopted and ratified.
