operation and without assurance that a permit for the entire building, structure or building <br /> service will be granted <br /> 20.04.260 Retention of plans. The Building and Safety Division shall maintain an <br /> official copy, which may be an electronic copy, of the plans for every building during the life <br /> of the building, for which the division issues a building permit Except for plans of a common <br /> interest development as defined in Section 1351 of the Civil Code, plans need not be filed <br /> for <br /> A Single or multiple dwellings not more than two stories and basement in height <br /> B Garages and other structures appurtenant to buildings in item A <br /> C Farm or ranch buildings <br /> D Any one-story building not constructed of steel frame or concrete where the span <br /> between bearing walls does not exceed 25 feet <br /> 20.04.270 Validity of permit. The issuance or granting of a permit shall not be <br /> construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of this <br /> code or of any other ordinance of the City of Pleasanton Permits presuming to give <br /> authority to violate or cancel the provisions of this code or the technical codes or of other <br /> ordinances of the City of Pleasanton shall not be valid The issuance of a permit based on <br /> construction documents and other data shall not prevent the Building and Safety Official <br /> from thereafter requiring the correction of errors in construction documents and other data <br /> The Building and Safety Official is also authorized to prevent occupancy or use of a <br /> structure where in violation of this code or of any other ordinances of the City of Pleasanton <br /> 20.04.280 Permit expiration. Every permit issued shall become invalid unless the work <br /> authorized by such permit is commenced within 180 days after its issuance, or if the work <br /> authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned for a period of 180 days after the <br /> time the work is commenced, or if 180 days has elapsed since the most recent approval <br /> has been given by the Building and Safety Official for a required inspection, as enumerated <br /> in Section 20 04 350 of this code The Building and Safety Official is authorized to grant, in <br /> writing, one or more extension of time, for a period not more than 180 days The extension <br /> shall be requested in writing and justifiable cause demonstrated <br /> If the permit has expired, before such work can be recommenced, a new permit shall be <br /> first obtained to do so, and the fee there-for shall be one half the amount required for a new <br /> permit for such work, provided no changes have been made or will be made in the original <br /> plans and specifications for such work, and provided further that such suspension or <br /> abandonment has not exceeded one year In order to renew action on a permit after <br /> expiration, the permittee shall pay a new full permit fee <br /> Any permittee holding an unexpired permit may apply for an extension of the time within <br /> which work may commence under that permit when the permittee is unable to commence <br /> work within the time required by this section for good and satisfactory reasons The Building <br /> and Safety Official may extend the time for action by the permittee for a period not <br /> exceeding 180 days on written request by the permittee showing that circumstances <br /> beyond the control of the permittee have prevented action from being taken <br /> 20.04.290 Suspension or Revocation. The Building and Safety Official is authorized <br /> to suspend or revoke a permit issued under the provisions of this code wherever the permit <br />
