il <br /> Laura Hoover described two incidences involving the Millers including one where Mrs Miller invaded <br /> the private memorial service of a resident, holding a noise meter to measure noise levels inside and <br /> outside of the building and demanding to speak to the Mason in charge and causing a disturbance <br /> among the guests Another incident involved a baby shower held inside the building where again, the <br /> Millers demanded to speak to the Mason in charge <br /> Jeff Renholts reported the Masons have attempted to resolve this problem with the Millers but they <br /> have not cooperated He urged the City Council grant them the appeal and reported events near his <br /> residence, at Foothill High School, where the sound level exceeded the levels allowed in the noise <br /> ordinance <br /> h Planning Commission requirements will affect the Center, in terms of <br /> Jim Strehlow, addressed how the a g q <br /> hours of operation and described examples of events held there He asked that Council allow the <br /> Masonic events to go beyond 10 00 p m <br /> Mike Salazar described events held on the north side of the Masonic Center, noted its intent on being a <br /> good neighbor and commented positively regarding staffs efforts <br /> Stephen Voyne reported the 1977 CUP protected the neighborhood and expressed concerns with <br /> Masonic Center events in terms of noise, increased traffic and potential crime He urged City Council <br /> to support the Planning Commission's decision on this matter <br /> Pier Dutcher stated the City must protect the peace and tranquility of residential neighborhoods, agreed <br /> with the claims of the Millers and urged City Council to approve the Planning Commission's <br /> recommendations <br /> David Pastor stated he hasn't heard the Masons deny they didn't following the rules in terms of holding <br /> events on the north side of the building as well as the number of sheds they have in the back yard He <br /> added that just because they did, doesn't means it is allowed <br /> Karthiiceyan Raditakrishrlan spoke in support of the Planning Commission's determination adding that <br /> this is not only a noise problem, but also a security problem <br /> Usha Gurazada spoke in support of the Planning Commission's determination noting the Masons need <br /> to follow the existing CUP and not hold commercial events on the north side of the building <br /> Nancy Hecht, Pleasanton, reported she lives on the far side of the same street as the Millers and she <br /> can hear noise from events on the north side of the Masonic Center She added there were no <br /> problems before the door was added in the back and infringed on the buffer zone She urged City <br /> Council to restrict their activities to either inside the building, or on the south side <br /> Shyamal Gurazada expressed concerns with excessive noise from commercial activities on the north <br /> side of the Masonic Center He added that he looks forward to having peace and quiet during the <br /> weekends and asked City Council to prohibit the Masonic Center from holding events on the north side <br /> of the building <br /> Sherry Ba expressed concerns with noise from events on the north side of the Masonic Center, debris, <br /> increased traffic, parking and security <br /> City Council Minutes Page 6 of 8 September 20, 2016 <br />
