THE CITY OF 8
.. iii e w wi°.: rt..e.. ",;::: V
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLEASANTON
November 15, 2016
Community Development
Traffic Engineering Division
TITLE: APPROVE THE LAUREL CREEK DRIVE TRAFFIC CALMING PLAN
SUMMARY
City staff has been working with residents from the Preserve neighborhood to develop
solutions to address their traffic concerns along Laurel Creek Drive. The City and the
Laurel Creek Drive residents have developed a traffic calming plan that includes
prohibiting right turns from eastbound Dublin Canyon Road to southbound Laurel Creek
Drive, and the installation of electronic radar feedback signs along Laurel Creek Drive.
The residents have collected the required signatures to show that a strong majority
(70%) of the residents support the traffic calming plan.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the Laurel Creek Drive Traffic Calming Plan.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The estimated cost to furnish and install two radar feedback signs is $20,000, and the
estimated cost to install two "No Right Turn" signs and posts is $500. Funds are
available in the City's Bi-annual Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program (CIP No.
16555) to fund this project.
The maintenance cost for the "No Right Turn" signs will be paid through the Street
Division's Road Maintenance Program. The radar speed signs will require routine
maintenance which is covered in the traffic signal maintenance contract.
