THE CITY OF <br /> - <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> LASTdC <br /> November 15, 2016 <br /> Community Development <br /> Traffic Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: APPROVE THE EXPEDITED SPEED LUMP PROGRAM <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The City of Pleasanton's Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program (NTCP) is designed to <br /> provide equitable and effective solutions to a variety of traffic concerns expressed by <br /> local residents The NTCP is successfully addressing speeding and cut-through traffic <br /> on neighborhood streets Due to the number of streets in the City's traffic calming <br /> priority list, residents have voiced their concern about the long wait before a traffic <br /> calming plan is implemented in their neighborhood In order to address the traffic <br /> concerns of the residents quickly and efficiently, staff recommends the approval of the <br /> Expedited Speed Lump Program which will provide a simplified and faster process for <br /> neighborhoods that are only interested in the installation of speed lumps <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve the Expedited Speed Lump Program to simplify and expedite the process to <br /> install speed lumps and allocate $50,000 per year as part of the Capital Improvement <br /> Program budget <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Speed lumps will require minimal maintenance, and the maintenance cost will be paid <br /> through the Street Division's Road Maintenance Program The speed lumps will require <br /> advanced warning signs and pavement markings The average cost to install a speed <br /> lump is $8,000 00 Completing two neighborhoods per year would cost an average of <br /> $50,000 per year <br />
