RESOLUTION NO. 16-891 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON IN <br /> SUPPORT OF MEASURE 11: THE SCHOOL AND CLASSROOM SAFETY, <br /> RENOVATION, CONSTRUCTION, AND MODERNIZATION MEASURES <br /> WHEREAS, The Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD) has identified a long list of <br /> capital projects necessary to upgrade existing school facilities in order to provide local students a <br /> modern and safe education, and <br /> WHEREAS, PUSD has concluded that these improvements are necessary to 1) provide <br /> a safe and comfortable educational experience for Pleasanton school children, 2) provide up-to- <br /> date science labs, equipment and technology to prepare students for college and modern careers, <br /> and 3) attract and retain the best teachers <br /> WHEREAS, On July 30, 2016, the PUSD Board of Trustees passed a resolution to place <br /> a $260 million bond measure on the November 8, 2016 ballot, and <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: <br /> SECTION 1 The City Council formally endorses the School and Classroom Safety, <br /> Renovation, Construction and Modernization measure <br /> SECTION 2 The City Council authorizes the City Manager and Mayor to send a letter of <br /> support for the School and Classroom Safety, Renovation, Construction and Modernization bond <br /> measure of 2016 to the PUSD Board of Trustees <br /> PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at <br /> a regular meeting held on October 4, 2016 <br /> I Karen Diaz, City Clerk of the City of Pleasanton, California, certify that the foregoing <br /> resolution was adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting held on the 4th day of October, <br /> 2016, by the following vote <br /> Ayes Councilmembers Brown, Narum, Olson, Pentin, Mayor Thorne <br /> Noes None <br /> Absent None <br /> Abstain None <br /> • <br /> Kare Diaz, City Clerk <br /> APPROVED AS TO FORM <br /> Daniel G Sodergren ity Attorney <br />
