CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> September 6, 2016 <br /> Community Services Department <br /> TITLE: APPROVE THE COMMISSION AND LOCATION OF THE PUBLIC <br /> ARTWORK, "ARC SUSPENSION"AT 4477 BLACK AVENUE <br /> SUMMARY <br /> "Am Suspension"is a stainless steel sculpture commissioned by the City of Pleasanton, <br /> with additional funding provided by Nancy and Gary Harrington and the Pleasanton <br /> Cultural Arts Council (PCAC). The location for the art piece will be in front of the newly <br /> renovated Cultural Arts Center located at 4477 Black Avenue, within Amador Valley <br /> Community Park. The proposed concept for the art piece and the location have been <br /> reviewed and approved by the Public Art Selection Subcommittee, and both the Parks <br /> and Recreation and Civic Arts Commissions. If approved, a contract will be drafted to <br /> enter into an agreement with the artist Jon Seeman. <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION AND CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the commission and location of the public artwork, "Am <br /> Suspension" at 4477 Black Avenue. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the commission and location of the public artwork, "Am <br /> Suspension" at 4477 Black Avenue. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The artwork "Am Suspension," which is valued at $56,000, will be funded by the City's <br /> Public Art Acquisition Fund #50550110 — 440109 ($20,000) and $36,000 in donations, <br /> from the Harrington Art Partnership ($24,000), the Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council <br /> ($11,000) and from a community member ($1,000). Of the $36,000 in donations, the <br /> City has received $1,000. The remaining $35,000 in donations are verbal commitments. <br /> Should the City not receive the $35,000, then the City's General Fund will have to <br /> provide the $35,000 to fully fund the "Arc Suspension" public artwork. It is the City's <br /> responsibility to coordinate and pay for the installation of the public artwork. The cost of <br /> installing the piece is estimated between $5,000-$7,000 and will also be funded through <br /> the Public Art Acquisition Fund. <br />
