RESOLUTION NO. 16-883 <br /> • <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> REAFFIRMING STAGE 1 CONSERVATION MEASURES OF THE WATER <br /> CONSERVATION PLAN WHILE TERMINATING THE GOVERNMENT CODE §8630 <br /> LOCAL DROUGHT EMERGENCY <br /> WHEREAS, California has been experiencing an extended multi-year drought only <br /> partially alleviated by average rainfall in Northern California in Water Year 2015-2016; and <br /> WHEREAS, based on water supply concerns, the City has implemented its Water <br /> Conservation Plan as set forth in Municipal Code Chapter 9.30; and <br /> WHEREAS, water conservation by Pleasanton residents and businesses has exceeded <br /> the State's previous 25% reduction request, and combined with projected improved water supply, <br /> has allowed the City to ask water customers for voluntary conservation instead of mandatory <br /> reductions; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City adopted a local drought emergency under California Government <br /> Code §§ 8630 and Municipal Code Chapter 2.44 [Emergency Organization] on May 6, 2014 by <br /> Resolution No. 14-678; and <br /> WHEREAS, due to improved water supply, Zone 7 has terminated its drought emergency, <br /> and it is appropriate for the City to also terminate its local drought emergency; and <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: <br /> SECTION 1. Reaffirms Stage 1 water conservation measures as set forth in Municipal <br /> Code Chapter 9.30 [Water Management Plan] asking residents and businesses to voluntarily <br /> reduce water usage by 10% and requiring compliance with applicable conservation and water <br /> waste measures as set forth therein; <br /> SECTION 2. Terminates the local drought emergency adopted by Resolution No. 14- <br /> 678. <br /> PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at <br /> a regular meeting held on August 16, 2016. <br /> I, Karen Diaz, City Clerk of the City of Pleasanton, California, certify that the foregoing <br /> resolution was adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting held on the 16"' day of August, <br /> 2016, by the following vote: <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Narum, Olson, Pentin, Mayor Thorne <br /> Noes: None <br /> Absent: Councilmember Brown <br /> Abstain: None <br />
