THE CITY OF <br /> pLEASANTONO <br /> CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> INVESTMENT ACTIVITY SUMMARY AND ANALYSIS <br /> AS OF JUNE 30, 2016 <br /> SUMMARY: <br /> The City of Pleasanton investment portfolio increased by $16,699,422 during the fourth <br /> quarter of FY 2015-16, from $185,215,339 on March 31, 2016 to $201,914,761 on June <br /> 30, 2016. For the quarter ending the yield to maturity on the portfolio was 0.97% an <br /> increase from 0.86% reported for the quarter ended March 31, 2016. The average days to <br /> maturity (ADM) decreased from 577 days on March 31, 2016 to 556 days on June 30, <br /> 2016. <br /> As described in this report, the City increased its investment in Local Agency Investment <br /> Fund (LAIF) to $49 million. LAIF is a short term investment option available to local <br /> agencies in California administered by the State Treasurer's Office. The quarterly LAIF <br /> interest rate was 0.55% and its ADM was 167 days. During the fourth quarter, City staff <br /> moved $10 million into LAIF and approximately $7 million into higher yielding, longer <br /> term investments with the goal of increasing the City's investment returns on the <br /> portfolio. The interest rates on the new investments range from 0.65% to 1.50%.
