It builds on the statutory goal for California to
achieve broadband deployment to 98%of households, which would serve as a trigger for
investments to achieve higher-speed networks. This measure also, amongst other things, sets an
interact adoption goal of 90%of all households by 2023 and authorizes funding to assist low-
income households through a coordinated grant program.
AB 1758 rightly promotes both broadband access and adoption with a modest investment that
will create great returns for California residents, businesses, visitors, and local service
providers. If you have any questions regarding the League's position on this bill, please do not
hesitate to contact me at(916)658-8283.
Sincerely,
Rony Berdugo
Legislative Representative
CC: Chair and Members,Assembly Utilities and Commerce
Edmond Cheung,Senior Consultant,Assembly Utilities and Commerce Committee
Daryl Thomas,Principal Consultant Assembly Republican Caucus
15IPage
