Pleasanton residents are well informed and engaged in local land use matters. Cutting people out of the
decision-making process who are invested emotionally and financially will not be well received. Staff is
consistently increasing public engagement efforts in an effort to maintain and build trust, and to allow the
community to grow and(re)develop in a cohesive and progressive manner.
While Pleasanton's General Plan has been update recently, the community is in the early stages of a
Zoning Code Update. At this time, the Zoning Code does not contain sufficient specificity to ensure that
a by-right decision-making process would ensure a high-quality project and/or neighborhood. This is
problematic and concerning.
On behalf of the residents we represent who deserve a voice in the future shape of their communities, the
City of Pleasanton respectfully states our opposition to this measure.
Sincerely,
Jerry Thorne
Mayor
City of Pleasanton
cc: Senator Steven M.
