Public Comment <br /> Michael Tree, representing LAFTA, spoke about working on improving the Wheels Bus system. <br /> They have focused on ease of use and ridability. The goal is to make access to BART and ACE <br /> easier for residents. This should result in improved ridership. The public process for formulating <br /> plan changes included stakeholders, a technical advisory committee of member agency staff, <br /> assistance from other transit agencies, an accessibility advisory committee, a phone and ridership <br /> survey and several rounds of public workshops. Now there is a preferred alternative for plan <br /> improvements. The public can comment on the proposal at www.wheelsforward.com or attend a <br /> public hearing on Monday, May 2, Bankhead Theatre in Livermoore. <br /> Councilmember Brown stated she and other Councilmembers are or have been proud members <br /> of the organization and they will be in attendance at the meeting on Monday. <br /> Peter Bailey spoke in support of Pioneer Cemetery. He would like to have it "dressed up" as it is <br /> at the entryway to the City. He, as a member of the committee, would encourage Council's <br /> support for the completion of this project. He appreciates the opportunity to speak before the City <br /> Council. <br /> Mayor Thorne asked staff to agendize the cemetery item to update the public. He knows there is a <br /> lot of interest in this item. <br /> City Manager Fialho stated the cemetery item will return to the Council for discussion on either <br /> May 17th or June 7th <br /> Howard Neeley has been a resident since 1966 and is a former Park and Recreation <br /> Commissioner. He spoke about a book which referenced each of the City parks and provided <br /> recommendations for each. He is anxious to see what happens at Kottinger and the cemetery. He <br /> understands that there needs to be a planned process and complimented the City Manager and <br /> the staff. <br /> Michele Plunge spoke about the Council's previous conservative votes regarding development in <br /> the City, which were reflective of a concern for controlled growth. On June 7th, Measure K will be <br /> on the ballot, which will violate Measure PP. It also has implications for future developments, <br /> allowing the Council to "pick and choose" elements which will affect hillsides and ridges.
