BACKGROUND
The City of Pleasanton received a$25,000 grant from the Alameda County Transportation
Commission (ACTC) in order to complete a feasibility study for constructing a pedestrian
and bicycle bridge over the Arroyo Mocho Canal. A condition of the grant requires the
City of Pleasanton to match the funds at a minimum of 100%. Based on an approximate
budget of$50,000, City staff expects a feasibility study that includes a survey of the area,
general 35% design plans, some basic assumptions for the environmental and
geotechnical needs, and a budget for costs to complete the project. Grant funds will be
received on a reimbursement basis.
DISCUSSION
The City issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to provide planning and engineering
services for design of a bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the Arroyo Mocho Canal in
February 2016. The City received three proposals from the following consultants: CE&G,
BKF Engineers, and Kimley-Horn. Staff recommends that the contract be awarded to
CE&G based on their detailed proposal and bike/ped bridge experience.
Schedule
The proposed schedule for the subject project is as follows:
Award of Contract: 5/17/16
Notice to proceed: 5/31/16
Project kick-off meeting: 6/22/16
Preliminary bridge alternatives: 8/19/16
Conceptual plans for preferred alternative: 9/9/16
Draft Feasibility Report: 9/30/16
Finalized Feasibility Report: 10/28/16
Submitt d by: Fiscal Review: Approved by:
/1,,A P(V
erry Beaudin Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Director of Finance City Manager
Community Development
Attachments:
1.
