Commissioners agreed to go through the list of <br />recommendation, make their own recommendations <br />needed be made to reach the funding amount available. <br />funding requests, consider the staff <br />, and then determine what changes <br />Abode Services - Commissioners discussed the request from Abode Services and wondered <br />whether there was a way for the program to be offered on a `fee for service' basis, and <br />perhaps something that the Commission could consider in the future. Ms. Andrade -Wax <br />confirmed that the Community Services Department receives about three calls per month, but <br />the Police Department may be receiving more. Commissioner Hayes wondered whether the <br />City of Pleasanton was considering doing a study similar to that being done in Livermore. <br />Commissioner Roby questioned whether Abode Services would be able to provide the service <br />if funds were not available from Pleasanton. Commissioner Clare agreed that there is a <br />homeless issue in the City of Pleasanton and thought Abode would have had more <br />information. Ms. Hopkins provided information about studies that have been completed. <br />Chairperson Jhanwar and Commissioner Parekh were concerned about the numbers that had <br />been indicated in the presentation. Commissioners also felt that Abode Services should have <br />been in contact with the Pleasanton Police Department. <br />Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation — Commissioner Roby was unsure about <br />eliminating funding for this organization. Commissioner Wright noted that it was pass- through <br />money and Commission Hayes commented on the cost of services being provided. <br />Chabot Las Positas CCC District — Commissioners discussed the request for funding for the <br />Tri- Valley Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Ms. Hopkins noted that staff felt the <br />other funding request from this agency warranted funding consideration more than this one. <br />Pleasanton Unified School District — Commissioner Clare questioned whether any of the funds <br />from the Student Health Services program could be used for the College Preparation and <br />Readiness program. She was advised by staff that this was not possible. Commissioner <br />Parekh noted that the $50,000 request for the College Prep program was almost 25% of the <br />fund the Commission had available to allocate. <br />Commissioners questioned whether other educational services had been accessed for funding <br />the program and discussed if the program merited consideration. Commissioner Roby had <br />concerns about funding supplementary academic programs and whether information provided <br />would be out of the realm of the family members /foster parents taking care of the students. <br />Ms. Hopkins noted that PUSD was also applying to the Youth Commission for $7,500 for this <br />same program. <br />Commissioners discussed a minimum amount to consider for this program. Commissioner <br />Wright indicated she had issues providing any funding for this program. Ms. Hopkins indicated <br />the Commission could consider an amount and staff would work with Ms. Montgomery on how <br />the funding would be used.
