BACKGROUND
The Annual Curb and Gutter Replacement project consisted of removing and replacing
2,818 SF of sidewalk that presented potential tripping hazards, 2,062 LF of curb and
gutter that had cracks and drainage problems, and installing 71 new intersection ramps
for ADA accessibility.
On February 3, 2015, Pleasanton's City Council awarded the contract to the lowest
responsible bidder, Rosas Brothers Construction, in the amount of $294,980. Council
authorized the Director of Community Development to approve change orders up to the
project contingency amount of$29,496.
DISCUSSION
Budget
The final project funding and expenditures are summarized in Attachment 1 to the report,
indicating total project expenditure of $327,611. Funding for the project included
$300,000 from the Annual Curb and Gutter Replacement Project, CIP 145009, with an
additional appropriation of $24,700 from Streets CIP (Fund 160) at the time of contract
award. Change orders totaling $32,631 were due to modifications to the ADA ramp at
Greenwood Road to better accommodate access to the Harvest Park Middle School,
expanded removal of curb, gutter and sidewalk associated with new settlements, and
additional ADA ramps on Pimlico Drive and Riddell Street. On May 4, 2015, the City
Manager approved up to an additional $13,000 of contingency in order to fund the
additional curb ramps installed at Pimlico Drive and Riddell Street. Council ratified the
final project overage of $2,911 with the 2014-15 CIP carryover report on December 1,
2015.
The project has since been completed and is ready for acceptance.
Submitted by: Fiscal view: Approve by:AA
Stephen atrick Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Director of Engineering Director of Finance City Manager
Attachments:
1.
