THE CITY OF�� <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> LZTöSL <br /> December 15, 2015 <br /> City Attorney <br /> TITLE: APPOINT JULIE HARRYMAN AS INTERIM CITY ATTORNEY TO SERVE <br /> UNTIL NEW CITY ATTORNEY IS HIRED <br /> SUMMARY <br /> California Government Code §36505 allows for the City Council to appoint the City <br /> Attorney. With the upcoming retirement of Jonathan Lowell on December 28, 2015, the <br /> recruitment process for a new city attorney is on-going. To ensure that all duties and <br /> actions of the city attorney comply with State law (California Government Code <br /> §§41801-41805), it is recommended that Julie Harryman be formally appointed as the <br /> Interim City Attorney to serve until a new city attorney is hired. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Appoint Julie Harryman to serve as Interim City Attorney beginning December 29, 2015 <br /> until a new city attorney is hired. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> As Julie Harryman will assume additional duties (attend all City Council meetings; <br /> manage the City Attorney's Office, etc.), her compensation will increase by 15% during <br /> her service as Interim City Attorney.
