SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
Provided to the Ally Council
Subject FW: Proposed amendment After Distribution of Packet
Date
From: Mike Chenery
Sent:Tuesday, November 03, 2015 10:37 AM
To: Steve Otto
Subject: Proposed amendment
I am the new owner of 383 Division St and I am stunned the city is considering a new amendment that nullifies
all the work done over the past 2 years on the historic survey. How can you, in all conscience, support a change
that effectively ignores what the city and the owners have previously agreed? There has never been any
suggestion that the non-historic houses should be frozen in whatever state they are now just to match some
arbitrary view of how the city should look.
The city has sufficient planning and building control to maintain the city's character without this intrusive
attempt to add a design review process by a staff with no architectural skills.
I strongly urge you to put a stop to this creeping government control and let the owners be responsible for their
property. We, as owners, have more interest than anyone in maintaining property values.
Sincerely,
Mike Chenery
1
