ATTACHMENT 2 <br /> ir) ® <br /> PL a:SNN; <br /> DOWNTOWN <br /> ASSOCIATION <br /> May 1,2015 <br /> Dear Nelson, <br /> As the economy continues to strengthen and Improve and as vacancy rates continue to decline in Downtown <br /> we are rapidly approaching parking saturation,particularly In the core of downtown and during peak times. <br /> The Pastime Plaza project,proposed development at 725 Main Street and other projects,while wonderful for <br /> downtown vitality,will put an even greater strain on our limited parking resources.Parking,and lack thereof, <br /> is the top customer complaint being heard by our downtown businesses and those complaints are becoming <br /> louder and more frequent. <br /> The PDA's Parking Committee has complied a parking study(attached)which shows the lack of parking during <br /> peak times in downtown.This survey has been thoroughly reviewed by the PDA's Downtown Vitality <br /> Committee and Board of Directors.At this time the PDA would like to present to the City of Pleasanton our 2- <br /> year vision and parking recommendations for downtown.If the parking saturation isn't addressed quickly we <br /> will see very real negative effects to our district. <br /> 2—Year Parking Recommendations <br /> • Identify a City employee to serve as a Right of Way Agent to proactively identify potential lots in <br /> downtown that can be purchased and convened into free public parking. <br /> • Immediately work to convert existing City-owned property into public parking.This includes the <br /> "DeMolay"lot near the Fairgrounds and possibly the Volunteer Center building and a portion of Civic <br /> Park. <br /> • Generate a minimum of 45 new public parking spaces in downtown with a minimum of 25 of those <br /> spaces in the core of downtown. <br /> • Conduct feasibility studies for a parking garage at the Bank of America parking lot site,Round Table <br /> parking lot site and TrueValue parking lot site. <br /> • Conduct a feasibility study to determine whether a second tier of parking could be added to the <br /> public lot behind Redcoats. <br /> • Determine whether parking spaces could be added behind 234 Main Street. <br /> • Pave the section of the Railroad corridor between E.Angela Street and Neal Street <br /> The PDA is very happy that Downtown Parking is a fully-supported item on the City Council 2-year work plan <br /> and we strongly encourage the City to address this growing need soon.Thank you for your ongoing support <br /> of our downtown. <br /> I V v' <br /> lestjtcIs <br /> ,a ra �Icon <br /> Prent - Live Director <br /> Pleasanton Downtown Association •leasanton Downtown Assodation <br />
