commercial ratepayers. Zone 7 has not yet published estimates of proposed 2017 and
2018 rate increases.
DISCUSSION
City staff values its relationship with the Zone 7 Board and agency staff and supports its
approach to maintain a balance between controlling costs and the difficult financial state
caused by the current drought. Further, while staff recognizes the pros and cons of all
three water rate components, it is important that any new rate schedule reflect both
Zone 7's economic realities and the region's overall financial conditions. The proposed
36% rate increase of $0.84/CCF would take effect on January 1, 2016 which will have
an annual impact of approximately $3,500,000 on the City and its ratepayers. As a
result, staff is recommending Zone 7 reevaluate and modify its rate increase proposal.
Su itted by: Fis re iew Approve
Kathleen F. urchak Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Interim Director of Director of Finance City Manager
Operations Services
Attachment:
1.
