THE CITY OF 1 O <br /> PLE ASANTONC CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> October 6, 2015 <br /> Community Development <br /> Traffic Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: ACCEPT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY PRISM <br /> ENGINEERING, INC. FOR THE BERNAL AVENUE AT I-680 IMPROVEMENT <br /> PROJECT, CIP NO. 005068 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The project consisted of modifying the I-680/Bernal Avenue interchange to improve the <br /> interchange operation and safety. City Council awarded this construction contract to <br /> Prism Engineering, Inc. on June 3, 2014. Construction of the project is complete and <br /> ready for City Council acceptance. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Accept the project as complete. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the project. <br /> 3. Authorize payment of the retention in the amount of $76,462.87 to Prism <br /> Engineering, Inc. 30 days after the recordation of the Notice of Completion providing <br /> existing Stop Notices are cleared and no more are received during the 30 day period. <br /> 4. Authorize the return of the project balance in the amount of $179,446 to the Traffic <br /> Impact— Bernal Property Fund balance. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for this project totaled $3,409,832 as outlined in Attachment 1. Expenditures <br /> totaled $3,230,386, including a $15,000 reserve, leaving a balance of$179,446. Staff <br /> recommends the transfer of this balance to the Traffic Impact— Bernal Property Fund <br /> (Fund 168) balance. <br /> This project is anticipated to create a nominal increase in operations and maintenance <br /> costs due to increased pavement surface areas for future maintenance. <br />
