CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 766 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING §4-1.23, ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 2 <br /> (SPECIAL PERMITS), TITLE IV (HEALTH, SAFETY, MORAL <br /> AND GENERAL WELFARE) OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE <br /> CITY OF PLEASANTON RELATING TO SOLICITATION IN THE <br /> PUBLIC STREETS. <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Section 4-1.23 (Solicitation by Peddlers, Hawkers, <br />and Itinerant Merchants), Article 1 (Solicitors and Certain Busi- <br />nesses), Chapter 2, Title IV of the Ordinance Code of the City of <br />Pleasanton is amended to read as follows: <br /> "§4-1.23 Solicitation by Peddlers Hawkers, and Itinerant <br /> Merchants. It shall be unlawful for any solicitor, <br /> peddler,"'hawker, itinerant vendor, or any other persor <br /> to go upon the premises of any private residence <br /> within the City of Pleasanton, without an invitation <br /> by the person in possession of said premises, for the <br /> purpose of soliciting orders for the sale of goods, <br /> newspapers, books, pictures, periodicals, magazines, <br /> insurance and building and loan stock or accounts, or <br /> any other personal property, or for the purpose of <br /> demonstrating or disposing of the same, unless the <br /> solicitor, peddler, hawker, itinerant vendor, or othe~ <br /> person first applies for and obtains a permit so to <br /> do from the Chief of Police of the City of Pleasanton- <br /> A permit shall also be required before any of the <br /> above activities may be conducted within-the public <br /> right-of-way-" <br /> Section 2. This ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) <br /> days after the date of its final passage and adoption. <br /> Section 3. This ordinance shall be published once within <br /> fifteen (15) days after its adoption in "THE TIMES," a newspaper <br /> of general circulation, published in the City of pleasanton- <br /> INTRODUCED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the <br /> City of Pleasanton on July 14 , 1975. <br /> ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City <br /> <br /> of pleasanton on July 28, , 1975, by the following vote: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers LeClaire and McLain and Mayor Protem Herlihy <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Councilmember Philcox and Mayor Kinney <br /> Attest: <br /> <br /> <br />
