In general I don't have any issues with the proposed remodeling. I think the extent and aesthetics would fit in well generally to the neighborhood. My only issue is with the proposed backyard facing balcony. I feel very strongly that this aspect of the remodel is not in line with the original design intent of the Morrison homes and is an invasion of privacy. Having lived in the neighborhood for 8 '/2 years I have been to many open houses, and have noticed that none of the original Morrison homes had a rear facing balcony. I think this was done for privacy reasons. Changing this design intent for new construction sets a bad precedent. If my neighbor was proposing the same backyard facing balcony, I would also be contesting it. I reviewed the proposed mitigations for blocking the views to the neighbors back yards, and find them inadequate. Relying on trees or shrubs to block views into someone's back yard is a Band-Aid at best, and is subject to droughts, and other natural occurrences. In general this is a violation of privacy, as the balcony allows for direct line of sight to the neighbors swimming pool.
