M E M O R A N D U M 411 410 aid-- itOrn;--
-August 9, 1974
TO: CITY MANAGER
FROM: DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS (, /
SUBJECT: Cost of Treatment Plant Improvements to Meet Regional
Board Requirements.
Total Capital Costs were estimated in April this year at $300,000 as
shown in Appendix B to my May 7 report to the Council. (Copy of
Appendix B attached.) This Eigure included City labor costs, con-
tingencies and engineering. It now appears that we will exceed the
$300,000 without including any City labor costs. The original esti-
mate and our latest estimate are summarized below. No City labor
costs are included in the current estimate but are in the original
estimate. However, only $10,000 was specifically shown originally
as City labor costs.
Original Current
Digester $105,000 $112,126 (1)
Old Digester Cleaning 10,000 10,391 (2)
Pond Cleaning 0 15,144 (2)
Filter 40,000 31 ,069 (2)
Disposal Fields 65,000 146,000 (3)
Hyd-Peroxide Systems 5,000 1 ,110 (2)
Contingencies 43,000 0
Consulting Eng. 12,000 25,000 (4)
•
$300,000 $340,840
Notes:
(1) This is total final cost. It includes approximately $15,000 for
repairs, all or part of which we hope to recover.
(2) Total final cost.
(3) This includes $26,000 to buy out the. current tenants lease which
we had not anticipated. The remaining increase is due to greater
requirements of the Regional. Board staff, a more extensive system
than anticipated and poor soils encountered in the pond area. ppygrp+
EXYIDY P
Resat- 754,- /6S
