BACKGROUND
On March 10, 2015, the City Council held a workshop to discuss goals for the coming
year to and to allow for public comment on existing and proposed goals for 2015/2016.
On March 17, 2014, the City Council adopted the 2015116 Council Work Plan Priorities.
On June 16, 2015, due to concerns about the drought, school and traffic impacts, and
other community concerns, the City Council voted to disband the East Pleasanton
Specific Plan (EPSP) Task Force and stop the EPSP process, thereby allowing the
City's Planning Division to devote time to other important projects. Also on June 16,
2015, while considering increases to the City's development review fees, the City
Council discussed the importance of the Zoning Code update as a means to further
streamline the development review process. Specifically, the update would give
particular attention to evaluating the appropriate level of review for proposed land uses
currently requiring a Conditional Use Permit. The intent of this effort is to simplify the
review process for those uses that can be allowed or adequately regulated without the
cost and time associated with a Planning Commission hearing. City Council's approval
of the development fee proposal anticipated that the Zoning Code update would be
added to the 2015/16 Council Work Plan Priorities. The Zoning Code update project has
been recommended in the past by the Customer Service Review Team (CSRT), the
Chamber of Commerce Economic Development & Public Relations Committee (EDGR),
and the City's Economic Vitality Committee (EVC).
DISCUSSION
The proposed amendment would add the Zoning Code update to the General Plan
goals /categories of the Work Plan. The attached work plan document is updated
through July 1, 2015.
Submitted by:
Brian Dolan
Assistant City Manager
Attachments:
Apprroveddf by:
Nelson Fialho
City Manager
1.
