ONMENIM
Subject: FW: East Pleasanton Plan Advisory Vote SUPPLEMENTAL MATER"
Provided to the City Cote
From:] After Distribution of Pack
Sent: Monday, June 01, 2015 3:53 PM
To: Ellen Holmgren; Mayor and City Council Date 26/
Subject: East Pleasanton Plan Advisory Vote
My name is John Bauer.
I live in South Pleasanton.
Below are my comments regarding the advisory vote for the EPSP being considered at the June 2,2015 City Council meeting.
The lannuaae should be unambiguous and clear
The last thing we need is a voter approved initiative such as MEASURE PP (2008 passed). The City Council and Planning
Commission have been, and still are, asking the question"what was the will (intent)of the voter when they voted for Measure PP?"
Measure PP still has not been codified into a City ordinance, and there is no clarity regarding the other properties covered by Measure
PP. The is evident related to the Lund Ranch II currently under consideration.
Alternatives
The land is currently zoned for industrial. There has been no community outrage related to the current zoning. The outrage
commenced once 1300 DU were added.
The voters should NOT be asked for an up/down vote. As an advisory vote, the voters should be given numerous choices and should
be able to state their preference. Possibly in some sort of ranking. Results from this type of vote will give Elected Leaders, City Staff,
and Commissions a direction to proceed.
Obstructionism
The vote should be more than validation obstructionist behavior. At the neighborhood meeting I attended (#2&#3), not one person
spoke in favor of the preferred development proposed by the task force. Many different reasons were given.
If the citizens do not want any development of the property (prevalent atmosphere of the neighborhood meetings), are the citizens will
to pay(i.e parcel tax, sales tax, etc)for the City to purchase the land from the current property owners? The land could then be
designated as open space for example.
Are the citizens ready to"Put their money where their mouth is"?
Keep the Task Force
The task force should continue. However, the task should take into account the most recent data.
For example(to name just a few):
We are in a drought, with statewide mandatory cut-backs.
Pleasanton's tax revenues are solid, and growing.
RHNA zoning has been fulfilled.
Dublin is on-track to grow to 75k residents
The Economic Crisis of 2008 is over.
Click here to report this email as spam.
