NF Date //=5
From: Karla Brown
Sent: Monday, June 01, 2015 9:51 AM
To: Nelson Fialho
Cc: Tina Olson
Subject: cost of election
Hello Nelson,
The cost the advisory election was staggering for both Nov. 2015 and March 2016, as per the staff
report.
Can you provide a range of costs for comparisons similar to the ones listed in the staff report for
6/2/15 for other dates as listed below:
1. A June 2016 (the Presidential primary election)? $165,000 - $250,000
2. A November 2016, the Presidential and Council/Mayor election for 3 open positions? The cost
is the same as above, but we have to pay that amount regardless because of the local Mayor
and Council race. In other words, not additive.
Also, if only 20% of the voters vote, does that affect the cost of the election? I am guessing these
dates will be drastically lower in cost for our taxpayers, and allow the task force to complete their
process. I was mistaken from earlier today. The answer is, No. The cost of any election is
based on the number of registered voters, regardless of turn-out.
Thank you.
Karlw Brow w
PLEASANTON'S 201 5 VICE MAYOR
925-200-1909
THE CITY OF
esiol
PLEEASANTON.
1
