CITY OF PLEASANTON AND THE CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION "PROJECT PAINT BOX"- UTILITY BOX BEAUTIFICATION PROGRAM Artwork/Artist Description Title of Submission: The Nature of Pleasanton Design Description(rendering must be submitted on the template provided AND on 8.5°x 11°paper) All five sides of this design have to do with a different representation of nature,an important part of life in Pleasanton.On side 1,there is an image of a pile of bricks lying on a grassy area.A pink flower grows from soil on top of the bricks.The background is a dark blue which becomes a lighter blue closer to the center of the painting.Side 2 depicts a woman in a white dress with long auburn hair standing with arms extended on top of a hill.She is surrounded by tall grass and bushes with colorful flowers.The background is a clear blue sky.Side 3 shows a mass of vines on the left.On the right, there is a lake with a brown path winding through it.A girl walks along this path which eventually turns into a canopied path lined with trees that disappears into the distance.Side 4 depicts half of a tree on the right with branches full of green leaves and pale pink flowers extending across the top half of the image.In the center there is a hummingbird.Side 5(the top of the box) shows an image of a representation of the sun. Artist Biography(up to 200 words) Mehdia Zaidi is a 10th grade student at Amador Valley High School.She enjoys Art and has been involved in a myriad of Art projects as early as kindergarten.She won many Challenger School art contests in kindergarten,elementary,and middle school.She is also a winner of Intel's 2014 SC GREENit Art Contest. Mehdia took formal AP Art courses at Foothill College and earned an A+grade.During 10th Grade,Mehdia helped paint diversity posters to decorate the school for Donversity week.She is an active participant of Amador Valley High School's Art Club.
