because the East Side is not critical to meeting our current statewide housing obligations, but may be required
following 2022.
Regardless, the Mayor and Council have asked that the matter be returned to the City Council for a
comprehensive update and to determine whether the planning process should be stopped. This matter has been
set for the May 19th City Council Meeting.
Again, thank you for writing and taking the time to be informed about our community. I hope you find this
information useful. Please let us know if you need additional clarification about the timeline or process.
Sincerely,
Nelson Fialho
City Manager
From: Ann alderete [mailto:annalderete @yahoo.comj
Sent: Friday, May 15, 2015 2:00 PM
To: Maria Hoey; Mayor and City Council; PTown Weekly #2; Livermore Independent; skhanna @bayareanewsgroup.com
Cc: Fred Alderete
Subject: PROPOSED EAST PLEASANTON SPECIFIC PLAN
Dear Council Members,
I will be out of town for the upcoming City Council Meeting on May 19, 2015 and I would like the
Counsel to represent me with a permanent NO vote for the development of East
Pleasanton. This development is not in the best interest of Pleasanton residents for many reason.
We need to absorb the state mandated 1900 housing units before planning any new
development. Listed are additional key items that support my request for the Council to vote NO.
SCHOOLS: - 1300 NEW students (per PUSD Demographer's report April 2015)
- Developers may offer a K-5 school
- No capital money for our cash-strapped middle schools or high schools
TRAFFIC: - Will create a traffic nightmare with 29,000+ new car trips per day on Pleasanton
Streets
- Encourages cut-through traffic from southbound drivers on 580, Dublin and San
Ramon - 1300 new homes will create traffic logjams on First St, Valley,
Bernal and more.
WATER: - Pleasanton taxpayers are spending $19 million for recycled water/purple pipe
systems so - YOU can have more drinking water, not 1300 new homes.
- This is not the time to add to our limited water supply problems.
HEALTH: - Our valley is "non-attainment" for national and state ozone levels, and small
particulate standards.
- Located near noisy and dirty industrial gravel mining companies, in use until 2040+.
2
