The City needs
to put a halt to further development that exacerbates the problem, including planning for the East Pleasanton
Specific Plan. Droughts have alway been a fact of life in California, but at this time not enough is being done by
the City to support our current needs, not to mention the needs of additional housing.
• With climate change the situation can get worse.
• CA has 10 million more residents since the last major drought in the early 1990's with no added
storage.
• Most attempts to increase storage have been cancelled by environmentalists in the past 40 years.
• The East plan places a 4 lane road adjacent to Lake I. The environmental report shows concern for air
quality in that area with all of this development, which could partially contaminate our critical Lake I
which is also used for Groundwater Recharge through the percolation process.
• We are in 2nd year of mandatory 25% residential reduction!!! Why add more residential housing???
Also, before any new development, the City needs to:
• Plumb all of the 44 parks and our road landscaping with recycled water and , not just 2 parks.
• Press for additional supplies from the regional suppliers.
Best Regards,
Lou Astbury
Click here to report this email as spam.
2
