traffic, noise and water consumption will we remember this night and realize many were uninformed of
that consequence? I support those who say "no more housing" as long as they complete that statement
with"I prefer industrial". The current owners are not motivated or required to leave it undeveloped, and
they have not expressed interest in donating it as open space to the City. They do not need planning
approval or a vote of the people to submit an application to build industrial as soon as the door is closed
on the possibility of a residential neighborhood.
In closing, my suggestion is to support Option 1 and continue the process you started. This allows more
public review, education, and input. This allows the Task Force, the group that has spent the most time
studying and evaluating the planning area, a chance to advise the Council on their recommendation—
which very well may be to halt planning. This allows the Planning Commission to review the EIR and
the Task Force recommendations and make their own recommendation to the City Council—which very
well may be to halt planning. In turn, this will all come back to the Council for review—just like tonight,
but with more information and careful thought. You will get a chance to make your recommendation at
that time—which very well may be to halt planning. And after that it could even be brought to the vote
of the people. With so many chances to control the planning of the Eastside, why would you want to
relinquish control and stop the planning tonight?
Brock Roby EPSP Task Force Member
Click here to report this email as spam.
2
