9 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2119 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> AMENDING CHAPTER 5.36 OF THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE <br /> WHEREAS, historically the Cities of Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin and San Ramon had <br /> funded the Tri-Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau in order to promote tourism in the Tri-Valley <br /> area, and based on competing demands on funds from the Cities there was a need to create a <br /> stable source of funding tied to tourism that would enable the Tri-Valley Convention & Visitors <br /> Bureau to better market the area thereby increasing business opportunities for Tri-Valley <br /> lodging businesses; and <br /> WHEREAS, in 2005 the Cities of Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin and San Ramon <br /> supported the establishment of the Tri-Valley Tourism Business Improvement District to provide <br /> services tailored to the lodging businesses, including tourism promotion programs specifically <br /> targeted to increase tourism promotion within the Cities of Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin and <br /> San Ramon, and the Pleasanton City Council established the Tri-Valley Tourism Business <br /> Improvement District for a term of five years; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Cities of Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin and San Ramon, and the Town <br /> of Danville, supported the renewal of the Tri-Valley Tourism Business Improvement District, and <br /> the Pleasanton City Council renewed the Tri-Valley Tourism Business Improvement District for a <br /> term of five years; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Tri-Valley Tourism Business Improvement District has been managed <br /> successfully since its establishment, now the Tri-Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau which is <br /> also called Visit Tri-Valley, has requested to renew the District as the Tri-Valley Tourism <br /> Marketing District for a term of seven years including the Cities of Dublin, Livermore and <br /> Pleasanton, the Town of Danville, and designated areas of Alameda and Contra Costa <br /> Counties; and <br /> WHEREAS, on February 17, 2015, the Pleasanton City Council adopted Resolution 15- <br /> 732, a Resolution to Renew the Tri-Valley Tourism Marketing District. Thereafter, the Cities of <br /> Livermore and Dublin, the Town of Danville, and the Counties of Alameda and Contra Costa <br /> consented to the City of Pleasanton renewing the Tri-Valley Tourism Marketing District that <br /> would include the corporate limits of all five municipalities and designated areas of Alameda and <br /> Contra Costas Counties as described in the Management District Plan. On April 21, 2015 and <br /> May 5, 2015 the City Council conducted public hearings to consider the renewal of the Tri- <br /> Valley Tourism Marketing District and to hear any protest to its renewal; petitions representing <br /> majority support for renewal of the district were received; and <br /> WHEREAS, on May 5, 2015, the Pleasanton City Council adopted Resolution No. 15- <br /> 746, modifying the Management District Plan of the Tri-Valley Tourism Marketing District, <br /> fulfilling the necessary procedural requirements to renew the district. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES <br /> HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />
