THE CITY OF <br /> ML. <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> PLEASANTON. <br /> 5 <br /> • <br /> May 19, 2015 <br /> Community Development <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS, AND AWARD <br /> CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO SUAREZ & MUNOZ CONSTRUCTION <br /> INC IN THE AMOUNT OF $866,598 FOR THE BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN <br /> RELATED IMPROVEMENTS AT ARROYO MOCHO TRAIL PROJECT, CIP <br /> NO. 115043 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Bids have been received for the project to pave the existing trail along the Arroyo Mocho <br /> canal from Sutter Gate Avenue to Guzman Parkway. Staff is recommending award of the <br /> construction contract to Suarez & Munoz Construction, Inc. in the amount of$866,598. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve the plans and specifications for the project. <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the construction contract for the project to <br /> Suarez & Munoz Construction, Inc. of Hayward, California, in the amount of <br /> $866,598. <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above construction contract. <br /> 4. Authorize the Director of Community Development to approve and execute <br /> contract change orders for a contingency amount not to exceed $108,400 <br /> (approximately 12.5% of the construction contract), for any necessary related <br /> project work. <br /> 5. Authorize the transfer of$17,500 from the General Trails Improvement project(CIP <br /> No. 017037) and $ 38,579 from the Bicycle and Pedestrian Related Improvements <br /> project (CIP No. 145043) to fully fund the project. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The paving of the trail will improve the existing infrastructure and will decrease future <br /> maintenance costs. The project was authorized in the 2013/2014 Capital Improvement <br /> Program (CIP), as the Bicycle and Pedestrian Related Improvements project (CIP No. <br /> 115043). Staff recommends the transfer of$17,500 from the General Trails Improvement <br /> project (CIP No. 017037) and $38,579 from the Bicycle and Pedestrian Related <br /> Improvements project (CIP No. 145043) to fully fund this project. <br />
