ORDINANCE NO. 2116 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ADDING TO THE MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 14.20 RECYCLED WATER USE FOR LANDSCAPE IRRIGATION WHEREAS, the State of California has recognized the importance of recycled water as a resource to protect the limited potable water supply and has adopted laws regarding the use of recycled water in California Water Code §§13550 et. seq. and California Government Code §65605; and WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton, through its agreement with the Dublin San Ramon Services District (DSRSD), has available a source of recycled water, the City is undertaking the construction of a recycled water distribution system, and the City is in the process of receiving a recycled water permit from the State of California's Department of Public Health and State Water Resources Control Board; and WHEREAS, when such recycled water distribution system is ready for operation, a new Municipal Code Chapter 14.20 Recycled Water Use for Landscape Irrigation will set forth the parameters when new development that needs a new water connection for landscape irrigation, and existing development with dedicated water meters for landscape irrigation, shall use recycled water for landscape irrigation consistent with City's recycled water permits and the City's Recycled Water Use Guidelines. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Adds to Pleasanton Municipal Code Title 14 Water, a new Chapter 14.20 Recycled Water Use for Landscape Irrigation, as set forth the attached Exhibit A. SECTION 2. A summary of this ordinance shall be published once within fifteen (15) days after its adoption in "The Valley Times", a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Pleasanton, and the complete ordinance shall be posted for fifteen (15) days in the City Clerk's office within fifteen (15) days after its adoption. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its passage and adoption. The foregoing Ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pleasanton on April 21, 2015 and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pleasanton on May 5, 2015 by the following vote.
