2014 Housing Element Annual Progress Report
April 21, 2015
Page l of 2
The City of Pleasanton is required to report annually to the State of California Housing and
Community Development Department (HCD) and the Governor's Office of Planning and
Research (OPR) on the implementation of its General Plan Housing Element. HCD requires a
report format that consists of five spreadsheets. These are included as Exhibit A of this report.
Housing Element Implementation Highlights
Key efforts towards implementing the Housing Element in 2014 are highlighted below:
♦ Building permits were issued for a total of 323 dwelling units. Two hundred and fifty-
one (251) units are part of the Hacienda 1— Essex project, formerly owned by BRE at the
southwest corner of Owens Drive and Willow Road. Nineteen (19) homes are part of
Cameron Circle and fifteen (15) homes are part of the Ironwood Community, both by
Ponderosa Homes. Fourteen (14) of the homes are part of Township Square (Commons
at Gateway). Approximately 11.7%or 38 of the total units will be affordable to very
low- income households and 1 unit will be affordable to moderate-income households.
♦ Planning approval was granted for the Summerhill Apartment 177-unit project.
Approximately 10%or 18 of the total units will be affordable to very low- and low-
income households and 5%or 9 of the total units will be affordable to moderate-income
households.
• Planning approval was granted to MidPen Housing to build 185 new and fully-accessible
apartments in a combination of single-, two-, and three-story buildings. All of the new
homes will be affordable to low-income seniors. The Mid-Pen Housing proposal for
Kottinger Gardens was previously appropriated $10 million from the Lower Income
Housing Fund to assist in the redevelopment of Kottinger Place and Pleasanton Gardens.
