THE CITY OF 7 <br /> "" CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLEASANTON© <br /> February 17, 2015 <br /> Operation Services <br /> TITLE: UPDATE ON WATER SHORTAGES AND LOCAL EMERGENCY <br /> DECLARATION <br /> SUMMARY <br /> A Stage 3 water shortage was declared by the City Council in May of last year, and the <br /> City implemented a mandatory 25% reduction in water usage. Since that time, the <br /> community has responded to these requirements and we were successful in meeting <br /> the 25% reduction target for the 2014 calendar year. In January 2015, the City Council <br /> voted to suspend drought penalties for ninety (90) days pending further information on <br /> water allocations from the State and the Zone 7 water agency. This report provides an <br /> update on water usage and the overall drought situation. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Continue with the 90-day suspension of the current City drought emergency declaration <br /> mandating a 25% water reduction with the understanding that the City Council will <br /> reevaluate the declaration at its April 21, 2015 meeting. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> No financial implications information only. <br />
